Marilyn J. Knudson Borcik, 78, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018.

Marilyn was born on December 16, 1939 to Euell E. and Willa (Moorman) Knudson in Albuquerque, NM.

She married Edward J. Borcik, Jr. on October 1, 1956.

Ed and Marilyn started their USAF military life together in Albuquerque, NM. They then moved to San Antonio, TX, Hampton, VA, Okinawa, Japan before calling Abilene home for almost 51 years.

Marilyn retired from the Texas Railroad Commission on December 31, 1999 after 17 years.

Per Marilyn’s wishes, she will be cremated. The family will hold a private memorial service and burial at a later date at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.

Mom was the cornerstone of our large family.

She loved each of us unconditionally and we will forever be grateful for her love, guidance and compassion. We sometime wonder how she raised seven kids without going crazy and still managed to pursue her hobbies while being involved in her kids and grandkids lives.

She was a multi-talented artist who excelled at crochet and sewing, enjoyed ceramics and painting.

Mom could sit at a penny gambling machine for hours and have a great time.

We will truly miss Mom’s compassionate advice and loving and gentle spirit.

Marilyn and Ed celebrated 39 years of marriage before his death on September 8, 1996. She is also preceded in death by her parents, her brother E.E. “Jack” Knudson, and her sister Anna Rinker.

She is survived by her seven children: Susan (Ken) Koctar, Kimberly (Tony) Powell, Debbie Craig, Edward John III (Debbie), Michelle (Les) Robbins, Dean, Jeffrey (Kellie) as well as her grandchildren:

Twenty-two grandchildren: Crystal (Jeff) Crocker, Matthew (Sarah) Koctar, Ethan Koctar, Michael Phillips, Brandon, Aaron & Garrett Powell, Tanner Borcik, Bri’Ann Beaty, Christopher Craig, Stephen (Taylor) Borcik, Collin, Sarah, & Carson Borcik, Tyler (Kady) Johnston, Zachary & Kelsey Robbins, Allison & Austin Borcik, Alexa, Rylie and Caroline Borcik.
And twelve great grandchildren: Avery Crocker, Mariah Rosenow, Julian, & Cooper Koctar, Breanna Cox, Alyssa & Michael Phillips, Jr., Elliott Borcik, Isabella & Jaxon Carr, Matias Cervantes and Judah Flores.

Marilyn is also survived by her beloved dog, Thumper, her constant companion for 12 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Ave., Suite 1100N, Bethesda, MD 20814, or American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
