Melanie (Grusczenski) Corbett
Wilmington - Melanie Corbett (Grusczenski), a retired nurse and life-long resident of Wilmington, DE, died unexpectedly at home on February 26th, 2018 at the age of 64. Melanie was born in Wilmington to the late Edward J. and Carolyn L. (Corbett) Grusczenski. She was a faithful member of St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, and held a master's in theology from Neumann College, in addition to having been employed as a nurse. Although she retired from Jefferson Hospital, she spent most of her career at St. Francis Hospital, in addition to several years at Wilmington Hospital. She was an avid photographer and found beauty in everything on the other side of the lens. She spent most of her dinners at Cosmos Diner, and was truly gifted at making new friends, and holding on to old ones. Melanie was a wonderful nurse, mentor, and friend; however, her greatest joy was her family. Her grandchildren, Parker, Lucas and Stella, instantly became the center of her universe. Any time she could spare was spent watching over them, and they will miss her fiercely. Melanie is survived by her daughter, Alexis Morton (J.D.); longtime friend, Mary Anne Ward; Uncles Tony (Marcia), and Stanley; along with many cousins whom she loved dearly. An Eleven O'clock mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 5th, 2018 at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, 408 South Harrison St. Wilmington, DE 19805. A viewing will begin at Ten O'clock. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
