James Oswald
James Oswald, 65 of Meridian, died Monday, February 26, 2018 at his home.
James Dale Oswald, age 65, went to be with the Lord Monday Feb. 26th, 2018 after a long battle with brain cancer.
Jim, as friends called him (also known by many as “Ozzy”), was born to James Edward Oswald and Erica Hudlet Oswald on Dec. 18, 1952 in Camp Cooke, California. They moved to the Boise area in 1953. Jim’s parents found their dream property in the small community of Kuna in 1967. He learned at an early age the value of hard work. At the age of 13, Jim owned 2 trucks and a bale loader, running a custom hay hauling business. During his high school years there he loved to play football. He also owned and cared for 20 cows during that time. In the honor choir his senior year, he met Susan Rorabaugh, who became his wife in 1971 after a whirlwind courtship of 42 days. He served proudly in the US Marine Corps for 4 years. During that time, Jim and Sue were blessed with 3 children: Kelli Jo, Jim and Eric.
In 1979, Jim and Sue bought a piece of the original homestead, which is still home. He loved being a dad and spent his life teaching his children how to follow Jesus. His many skills were passed on to his kids, as well as instilling his core values of taking care of family and to “never tell a lie”. Many in Kuna remember him as Santa as he enjoyed playing the role for over 15 years. His skills were many, a “Jack of all Trades”, including construction, mechanics, farming, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, trucking and was a self taught computer tech. He enjoyed creating things, developing a line of custom redwood patio furniture that hundreds of people came to enjoy. After years of business ownership, “Ozzy” ventured into a new hobby, leading him to the Kuna School District’s Information Technology Department. He loved this job and the people he worked with. Jim spent his life with a deep love for his family; they were his everything. There wasn’t an activity or event that he missed (if he could help it). He got deep satisfaction from helping others and helping them in solving problems. He loved being in the outdoors whether it be for hunting, camping, fishing or riding ATVs.
Jim is survived by his wife Susan of 47 years; daughter Kelli Jo (Greg) Johnson; sons Jim Oswald and Eric (Fran) Oswald; parents James E. and Erica Oswald; sisters Jeri (Dave) Smith and Sheri (Jim) Russell; grandchildren: Braydon, Jared and Jordon Johnson, Dominic and Mia Oswald, Ashley and Molly Oswald; great- grandchildren: Ashton and Grayson Johnson; and so many loved extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his brother Timothy Oswald.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Kuna Event Center, Kuna. A private family graveside service will be held.
Arrangements are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.
