James K. McDermott, 74, formerly of 350 E. 13th street, died Sunday evening at a local hospital. He had been ill for two years.
Friends may call at the Behr funeral home from which services will be held to St. Mary's church at 8 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
McDermott was a retired farmer. He was born July 4, 1875, near Placid, and lived in that vicinity most of his life. Formerly he was a member of St. Mary's church.
In 1892 he was married to Elizabeth Graant, who preceded him nine years ago.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. John (Lulu) Kirby, of Hopkinton, Ia.; three brothers, Kenyan McDermott, of Dubuque and G.L. McDermott, of Waterloo, Ia., and one grandson, Leo McDermott, of Rockford, Ill. He was preceded in death by his wife and two sons.
Obit says he was born near Placid, IA. Married Elizabeth Grant in 1892.
