Glenn H. Grable, 79, of Medina, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Medina General Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Springfield Township, south of Akron, and had been a Medina County resident for 30 years. He attended the University of Akron and was a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute. He was a member of Kirby Club of Akron and a longtime member of First Christian Church, where he was a very active layman, member of the board, deacon and elder of the church. He retired as president of Latex Industries in Chippewa Lake, which developed the catheters used in space exploration, and was formerly employed in the latex division of Seiberling Tire & Rubber Co. Mr. Grable was a navigator and instructor on the B-17 in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Isabel (nee Karam) of Medina; brother, Dr. Bennis E. Grable of Lodi; sister, Lona Flowers of Akron; niece, Joyce Poole of Akron; stepdaughters, Jenna Starn of Chicago and Denise Rochford of Michigan; stepson, Fred Karam Jr. of Richmond, Va.; a host of friends; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mable; brother, George; and first wife, Nelma.
Service: 11 a.m. today at First Christian Church, 222 S. Broadway, Medina. Dr. Teresa Dulyea-Parker will officiate.
Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, Medina.
