Edward H. "Pete" Buchanan Jr., 72, of West Terre Haute, passed away in his residence at 8:50 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018. He was born Sept. 14, 1945, in Vigo County, to Edward and Mollie Hargett Buchanan.
Edward was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the International Paper Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, Seth, Ernest and Terry; a sister, Laura Shattuck; and great-granddaughter, Rhyleigh Buchanan; and three special friends, Paul, Jim, and Bill.
Pete is survived by wife of 52 years, Judith Schoffstall Buchanan; his daughter, Lisa McElroy and her husband Dennis of West Terre Haute; his three sons, Michael Buchanan and his wife Angela of Oaktown, Mark Buchanan and his wife Nikki of Carmel, and Matthew Buchanan and his wife Melissa of Terre Haute. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Brittany (McElroy) Seabolt and Karrie, Jonathan McElroy, Lindsey (Buchanan) Johnson and her husband Shane, Tiffany Buchanan, Courtney Buchanan, and Alexis (Buchanan) Campbell and her husband Justin; eight great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Jocelynn, Hunter, Brayden, Bristol, Gunner, Jacob and Zachariah; four brothers, Ronald Buchanan and his wife Karen, Donald Buchanan and his wife Marilyn, Steve Schoffstall and his wife Candy, and Danny Schoffstall; five sisters, Mary Jane Crabb, Betty Rose Shattuck and her husband Henry, Hallie Fox, Betty Jane Sollars and her husband Joe, and Linda Tomes; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, in Bethesda Cemetery. Military rites will be performed; Chaplain Ken Coffman will be officiating. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., West Terre Haute, Indiana, was entrusted with arrangements.
