Linda “Darlene” Reid, 72, of Coahoma died Wednesday, February 28, 2018.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Scott Kirkland, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Coahoma Cemetery.
She was born September 24, 1945, in Big Spring and she was a lifetime resident of Howard County.
She graduated from Coahoma High School in 1964.
She graduated from Howard College Nursing School in 1990 as an Licensed Vocational Nurse.
She was a Home Health nurse for many years.
She loved to spend time reading and gardening.
She loved to follow professional basketball and had a special love for Lebron James.
But her grandchildren were the joy of her life and she loved spending time with each of them.
She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Linda is survived by her son: Dr. Jody Reid and his wife Tessa of Coahoma; her daughter: Dr. Stephanie Reid of Burnet; grandchildren: Reagan Reid, Ryan and Gabi Reid, Riley Reid, Mason Campbell and Ray Reid; one sister: Leitha Earnest and her husband Douglas of Lufkin; two nephews: Scott Earnest and Gregg Earnest. She also has 3 aunts: Nelda Jo Hyden, Lynnell Ray and Lee Ida Rainey.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents: Berton and Pauline Mason and one aunt Geraldine Robinson.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Jody Reid, Scott Earnest, Gregg Earnest, Mason Campbell, Reagan Reid, Ryan Reid, Ray Reid and Riley Reid.
