Jerry Lynn Atkins, 58, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away suddenly Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Warren Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Sammy Campbell. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Front Royal.
Jerry was born December 19, 1959 in Front Royal, VA, son of the late Ned W. Atkins and Katherine Atkins Woodward.
He coached Midget Football in Front Royal for over 25 years, coached baseball with the Front Royal Little League for many years and was a carpenter by trade and a member of the Brotherhood of Carpenters Union.
He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Kathy Ann Jenkins Atkins; two sons, Matthew Ned Atkins and fiancee Chelsie of Stephens City and Jerry T. Atkins of Frederick, Maryland; two daughters, Charity Lynne Shifflett and husband James of Front Royal and Krystal Smoot of Front Royal; one brother, Edward Skip Atkins and wife April of Front Royal; three sisters, Barbara Fletcher and husband Oscar of Linden, Faye Prince and husband Mike of Front Royal and Faye Woodward Shuffler and husband Jerry of Surf City, South Carolina; one grandson Parker Shifflett; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Jerry was preceded in death, along with his parents, by step-father, Russell Woodward; and a sister, Nancy Butler.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Atkins, Tyler Atkins, Justin Prince, Tommy Jenkins, Skip Atkins, and Mike Prince.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Reed, Ken Doner, Paul Pullen, Bo Merchant, Tim Weaver and Tina Weaver.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
