Charles Henry Adams, 81

Charles was born June 27, 1912 in Havensville, Kansas, the son of Henry Francis and Myrtle (Fischer) Adams. He moved to Nemaha County, Kansas with his parents at an early age, and attended a rural school.

On January 8, 1934, he married Rachel C. Chilson in Marysville, Kansas. They were blessed with three children.

They farmed several years in the Centralia, Kansas area, then spent two years in South Dakota. In 1945 they moved south of Frankfort, Kansas where he was a farmer and dairyman.

He was a 25-year member of the Frankfort Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) Lodge 110, and had served on the Perll School board.

Charles H. Adams, 81, Vliets, Kansas died Monday, July 26, 1993 at DeChairo Hospital, Westmoreland, Kansas.

Preceding him in death were a son, Charles Herbert Adams, who died in 1950; brother, Edwin Adams, and two sisters, Katherine McLaughlin and Lela Elder.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rachel Adams; daughter Rita Gay McLean, Westmoreland, KS; son, Gerald Lee Adams, Frankfort, KS; three sisters: Lydia Potter, Vermillion, KS; Donice Barrett, Oneida, KS, and Mary Lindeen, Seneca, KS; two brothers: Raymond Adams, Corning, KS and Kenneth Adams, Winterset, IA; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday from the Frankfort United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bruce Emmert will officiate. Soloist Steve Gleason will sing “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “Amazing Grace”. Organist will be Eunice Samuelson.

Pallbearers will be Allan William, Leland Chilson, Dale Williams, Steve Barrett, Roger Adams and Lowell Elder.

Burial will be in Frankfort Cemetery, with arrangements by Padden Funeral Chapel of Frankfort.

The family requests that memorials in his name be given to the Frankfort United Methodist Church.
