Derek R. Oxford
July 26, 1983 - February 24, 2018

Derek Ray Oxford was born in Snellville, GA on July 26, 1983 to the late Rachel and Charles Oxford. Derek reached the pinnacle of his success when it came to academic intelligence. In elementary he skipped the first grade to enter right into second grade. He was considered a gifted student. He worked as a computer technician at Fry’s electronics. In his career as an RN he worked at DeKalb Medical and Habersham Medical. His last achievement was received in the form of a master’s degree in nursing from Western Governors University. The level of education he obtained was admirable to many. Derek also had a passion for sports and especially baseball. One of the things he enjoyed to express regularly is how he could throw out a pitch at 90 miles per hour when he was a pitcher for his school team and local recreation centers. He spent most of his time with family, working out and attending Cross Point Church. Mr. Oxford is survived by his daughter Arely Olive Oxford (5), his sister Clare Camille Oxford (36), the mother of his daughter and best friend Tameka Gabrielle Powell (31), and a host of other family and friends. Thanks going out to: Stan Shelton and Janet Puckett. Arrangements by Tim Stewart Funeral Home- 300 Simonton Road S.W. Lawrenceville, GA 30046. 770-962-3100. Please leave online condolences www.stewartfh.com.
