Dorothy Lois Howell, a native of Mansfield, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA since 1962, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the age of 95.

She is survived by her children; Suzanne H. “Suzy” Jeane and husband Joseph, and Sylvanus T. “Dick” Howell, III and wife Charlotte. Loving grandmother of Taylor J. Jeane, Shannon Hannaman (Jay) and John Howell. Also survived by Betty Tureaud, her loving caretaker and host of friends.

Mrs. Howell was a longtime member of University Baptist Church where she was a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher for 35 years.

She was also a professor at LSU in Home Economics and was the Assistant Director of that department. Dorothy was active in the LSU Alumnae Association, recognized as the 2015 Outstanding Alumnae, and was active in the Phi Mu Sorority. She also was the Editor of the Tiger Bait Cookbook, the proceeds of which generated over 125 scholarships.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at University Baptist Church, 5775 Highland Rd, Baton Rouge, LA on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 9AM until 11AM. The Funeral Service will follow at 11AM. Interment will be in Colvin Memorial Cemetery, Unionville, LA on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1PM.
