DEATH OF W. D. CLARK. He Succumbs to an Attack of Typhoid Fever After a Heroic Battle, Wm. D. Clark, for the past five years head bookkeeper for the Superior Lumber company, died of an aggravated attack of typhoid fever at his home on Eighth Avenue West at nine o'clock Saturday morning, after a two weeks, illness. His condition for the past few days had been beyond all hopes of his physicians, and he succumbed only after a heroic battle. Wm. D. Clark was born at Calais, Maine, on Nov. 3, 1840 and lived in that state till 1864, when be came to Wisconsin, settling at Waupun. Two ear later he moved to Brandon, where he was engaged in the lumber business. About ten years ago he removed to Arcadia, where he was married to Miss Cora Kribbs, who survives him. Later he accepted a position with the Eau Claire Lumber company. From the latter place he came to Ashland about five years ago to accept a position with the Superior Lumber company. Mr. Clark has a brother in Ashland, Dr. T, C. Clark, and two brothers and two sisters reside at Portland, Me. The deceased made many friends since coming to Ashland. He was generous, sympathetic and forgiving, and as a neighbor and business man he was ever courteous. The bereaved widow and sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of the community in their affection. The funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon at two o'clock, and will be conducted by the Masonic fraternity, of which he was a member. The interment will take place in Mount Hope cemetery.
