Graveside services for Mr. Danny Joe Sims, age 60, will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Welcome Cemetery, Taylor, AR. Burial will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018, from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm at the funeral home.
Danny was born August 12, 1957, in Magnolia, Arkansas to Willie Lee Sims and Elizabeth Neal Sims and died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at his residence in San Jose, CA.
A longtime resident of Springhill, Louisiana, he participated in the State Special Olympics in his youth and participated in activities at the Sparc Center in Sarepta, Louisiana, in his adult years. Mr. Sims also worked at the Springhill Wal-Mart in the 1990's. He enjoyed driving around Springhill on his scooter and was a lifelong Springhill Lumberjack football fan.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Fredric "Selton" Sims and one niece, Melinda Frix.
Survivors include niece Mallory Sims and fiance, Jacob Scott from Aptos, CA, niece Melanie Homan and husband, Chester from Crawfordville, FL, nephew, Matthew Sims from Metairie, LA, niece Melissa Griggs from Texas, six great nieces and nephews: Nicholas Griggs, Ty Griggs, Chloe Sims, Carly Frix-Rhyne, Jacob Frix, and Kennedy Frix. Also surviving Danny are his former sister-in-law, Carol Sims, from Aptos, CA, and his caregiver of 6 years, Ermelindo Gabriel.
