Gregory M. "Hopper" Hopkins, 71, of Rocky Hill and formerly of East Hartford, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 4, 2017 after a long illness. Born in San Francisco, CA on March 31, 1946, a son of the late Richard and Pauline (Lirosi) Hopkins, he had resided in East Hartford for most of his life. Greg was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1965 and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement he was employed for 38 years by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford. Greg was a member of the Volunteer Hose Company #3, East Hartford and a former member of the East Hartford Democratic Town Committee. He also served on the Planning and Zoning Committee in East Hartford for many years. A talented and avid golfer, Greg was a former long-time member of the East Hartford Golf Club where he was a past president and member of the Men's League for many years.
