Joseph H. DiMaggio was born on August 14, 1944 to Olympia Ferrante and Tom Di Maggio, of Monterey. He attended San Carlos, Junipero Memorial High School in Monterey and received an AA degree from Hartnell College, in Salinas.

He served in the United States Army, and was sent to Vietnam. He was employed at the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. until it closed in 1980, and worked for the Monterey Regional Water Pollution Control Agency, until his retirement in 2008.

Joe had many interests. In his young adult years, he learned to hunt and fish, and enjoyed going to Ilwaco, WA to fish for salmon. He loved classic cars and was the former President of the Salinas Valley Street Rodders. He attended car shows in his 65 Nova.

He enjoyed traveling, with his wife. They made several trips across this wonderful country in their motorhome. He had a passion for cooking, and was known as the "Master Chef." His favorites where homemade raviolis, clam chowder, Italian cookies, and eclairs.

Joe was a member of the Salinas Elks, the Native Sons of the Golden West, and the Salinas Valley Boat Club.

He is survived by: his wife of 53 years, his children; his two grandsons; a brother; a sister; a nephews and a niece.

Visitation will be held 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, March 1,208 at Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel, 41 West San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.
Vigil services will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday, March 1,2018 at Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel, 41 West San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.
Mass will be held at 1:30p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018 at San Carlos Cathedral, 500 Church Street, Monterey, CA 93940. Burial to follow at San Carlos Cemetery, 792 Fremont Street, Monterey, CA 93940.
