Mrs. Birdie Jane Smith passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Brookwood Medical Center. She was born on November 19, 1946 in Clay County to J.D. Padgett and Lovenue Cotney Padgett. She loved her family dearly. She was an active member of New Salem Baptist Church, enjoyed shopping, singing, decorating her house for Christmas, and listening to Country Music.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas A. Smith (Alisha) of Alexander City, and Shane Smith (Sabrina) of New Site; grandchildren Corey T. Smith, Connor Smith, Christopher Smith (Shani), Kayla Smith, Christi Maddox, Kimberly Maddox, Robert Maddox, Gracie Kelley, and Sophie Kelley; sisters, Gail Wilson (Ralph) of New Site, and Barbara Voss (Wayne) of Great Falls, MT; brother, Chris Padgett of Tallassee; great-grandchildren, Lucas Smith, Landon Brasher, Brantley Smith, Kallie Smith, and Nicole Maddox, and a special friend, Darlene Betts.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Abie Allen Smith, and a brother, Jim Padgett.
