Jerry Wayne Baker, 76, of California, MO passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Capital Region Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 24, 1941 in California, MO to Arthur W. and Clara M. Schaaf Baker. He was the youngest of six siblings. In California, MO on September 12, 1970 Jerry married Gloria A. Porter who preceded him in death on May 31, 2013. Jerry attended California R-1 schools and after graduation had various jobs. He worked construction, brick laying, and other laborer positions. He retired from Cargill in 2003 as a security guard. After retirement, Jerry opened Cheapees Thrift in Apache Flats and later opened one here in California, MO. Jerry always had a love for antiques and collectables and had his first shop Bakers Bargains in 1976, Soon children came, so this wasn’t to be for long. Being able to reopen after retirement was truly a dream come true. Jerry also served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea for a short time. Jerry is survived by two daughters, Hannah Anderson and her husband Michael of Jefferson City, MO, Amber Rodgers and her husband Robert of California, MO, seven grandchildren, Hunter Baker, Blake Goodman, Chloe Mitchem, Braden Mitchem, Gavin Mitchem, Emmalyn Anderson, Elijah Anderson, One sister, Lillian Holdorf of Walcott, IA, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers Harold Baker, Donald Baker, two sisters Loretta Cassidy, and Shirley Baker. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. with a funeral service following at 1:00 P.M; both at the funeral home. Officiating will be Michael Anderson. Burial will be at the California City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Donor’s Choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, MO.
