Nellie retired after many years from J.C. Penney Company. Having worked in the men's department she took great pride in fitting a suit perfectly. She loved mentoring the younger employees and made many lifelong friends.
Raised in a musical family, she wished she could play as well as her siblings. Her love for music was evident as music always filled the air in her home and Saturday night always included Molly Bee's polka party on television.
She loved road trips with Ray, enjoying the beautiful countryside. Caring for a garden provided her not only with fresh veggies, but also the opportunity to surround herself with nature. Her grandchildren and especially her great grandchildren brought great pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years; parents, brothers; Lynn and Vernon, sister; Bernice and Willie, Nieces; Debbie, Kathy and Brenda.
Nellie is survived by her daughters; Becky Weiss and husband Keith, Carrie Cockrell and husband Glen: grandchildren; Brandy & Deon Brown, Zachary & Jamie Weiss, Lindsey & Ryan Rowse and Jamie & Mike Mead. Great grandchildren; Bella, Noah, Aiden, Isla, Grayson and Emmerson.
