A graveside memorial service for Kathy Ruth (Nimmo) Reed will be held at Sallisaw City Cemetery Gazebo on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 1:00 pm under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.
Kathy Ruth (Nimmo) Reed, of Sallisaw, was reunited with her daughter, Mellie Ruth; her mother, Maxine; her Aunt Belle; her Granny and many others on Saturday, February 24, 2018 on her 77th birthday.
Kathy was born on February 24, 1941 in Sallisaw to Foster Nimmo and Maxine (Stephens) Nimmo. She was married to George Doyle Reed, who preceded her in death.
Kathy worked as a legal secretary for 11 years before becoming deputy in the Court Clerk’s office in 1971. She was the Sequoyah County Court Clerk from 1983 – 1995. Kathy enjoyed her 35 years of working for the people of this county. She was a Christian of the Baptist faith.
Those who knew her would often question her as to how many children she had. She claimed them all. She always referred to her family as a whole. They were all “her kids.”
Kathy is survived by her son, Steve Reed and his wife, Lori of Sallisaw; 2 granddaughters, Melanie (Reed) Sparks and husband, Larry Michael and their three sons, Maximilian, Alexander, and Jack and Lana (Reed) Ray and her husband, Josh and their three children, Gunner Reed, Aubrey, and Jackson; one sister, Fostene Meyers of Tulsa, OK; and many cousins. She loved them all.
Even with all Kathy endured she never lost her infectious smile or her sense of humor.
Active Pallbearers will be Curtis Stephens, Cliff Fairchild, Dale Hill, Jimmy Dodson, Josh Ray, and Larry Sparks. Honorary Pallbearer will be Max Nimmo.
