Marilyn J. Jacobs, aged 89, went to her new home in heaven peacefully, surrounded by her family on January 30, 2017 at 5:30 pm in Palm Coast, Florida. Marilyn was born February 2, 1927 in Dayton, Ohio to Robert and Florence Sager. She graduated in 1949 from Ohio Wesleyan University, where she played field hockey, which she also played at Fairview High School. At Ohio Wesleyan, Marilyn was President of the Home Economics Club and a member of Delta Gamma sorority, with which she remained involved throughout her life. As a DG, Marilyn provided reading assistance to foreign graduate students. She felt her most rewarding experience was assisting the blind in various daily tasks activities. Marilyn was an active member of the Methodist, Baptist, and Presbyterian churches in the various locations in which she lived with her husband Ralph, and served on many committees providing family and community services. She was an avid golfer and bridge player, from which she generated many life- long friends. Marilyn was a proud and devoted mother and wife to her family, for whom she cared for her entire adult life. Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 67 ½ years, Ralph M. Jacobs, her son, Bruce A. Jacobs of Empire Michigan, and her daughter Carol L. Wright of Ormand Beach, Florida. Funeral services will be held at graveside on Saturday, February 4th, 2017 at 10:30 am. Marilyn will be interred at Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Ave., Daytona, Florida, 32114. Family and friends are invited to a reception to follow the service at Lohman's Funeral Home, located next to the cemetery. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made on Marilyn's behalf to Halifax Health Hospice, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
