Martin J. Etchemendy passed away at the University of Utah Medical Center due to complications from a fall. He was 80 years old. Martin was raised and schooled in Elko and graduated from Elko high school in 1941. When he returned to Elko he started working for the Western Pacific Railroad in 1949 and retired in 1983 as a locomotive engineer. Martin married Margaret Landa on September 27, 1952 in Elko. He and Margaret spent winters in southern Nevada, Arizona and Southern California. He loved spending time checking out rural Nevada, his beloved state. He is survived by his wife Margaret of Elko; son, Kenneth of Lamoille; sister, Mary E. Guccini of Fruita, CO; and grandson Jeremy Etchemendy of Spring Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Henry in December 2001. Martin played baseball for 50 years and enjoyed attending his grandson's baseball and football games.
