David Gibson Sikes, 65, passed away Friday February 23, 2018. He was born July 18, 1952 in Jacksonville to the union of Owen Gibson and Lois Marie Sikes.
David was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville and longtime member of East Pointe Church. After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 1970, he furthered his education by completing a technical certification program at Florida Community College at Jacksonville. David was a career employee with the US Postal Service, working in the information systems/IT department and retiring in 2012 with 32 years of service.
He will be remembered for his relationship with God and his love of family as well as his interests in music and classic movies. David will be dearly missed by family and all who knew his.
David is preceded in death by his father Owen Gibson Sikes and brother Larry Sikes. Survivors include his mother Lois Sikes and his spouse of 43 years Ann Sikes both of Jacksonville as well as his three children. Charles Sikes (Kassandra) of Savannah, GA, Catherine Kiick (Matthew) 0f Haymarket, VA and Richard Sikes (Elizabeth) of Jacksonville and grandchildren Adalynn Sikes, Lillian Sikes, Cooper Kiick and Colton Kiick.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 28 at 11am at East Pointe Church, 270 Kernan Blvd, North, Jacksonville, FL., with Pastor David Patrick officiating. Interment will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Jacksonville. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the American Liver Foundation or East Pointe Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Cedar Bay Funeral Home of Jacksonville.
