Mary E. “Betsy” Bronson, 85, of New Hampton, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, February 24, at the New Hampton Nursing & Rehab Center.

She was born June 19, 1932 in Waterloo, daughter of Louis and Margaret Stefan Kuriger. She married Clayton E. Bronson on April 15, 1952 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Survivors include four daughters, Maggie (Greg) Elin of Waverly, Ann Bronson of Omaha, Sue (Dan Frankel) Bronson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Ruth (Jack) Kipp of New Hampton; a daughter-in-law, Mary Bronson of Elgin; ten grandchildren, Bill (Faith) Bronson, Ken Bronson, Angie Bronson, Bob Bronson (Jenna), Chris (Crissy) Dieckman, Lynne Dieckman, Dustin Elin (Colleen), Ben Kipp (Allison), Dusty Kipp and Amy Kipp; 15 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Wrage of Hudson and Cecelia Deich of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Joseph Bronson; and a brother, Dr. Bill Kuriger.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edward’s Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 3:45 p.m. rosary and a 6:45 p.m. vigil. Visitation will continue at the church for an hour before services on Wednesday.

Betsy's love of textiles and needlework showed in her extensive, prize winning work. She was exceptionally skilled at sewing, knitting, tatting and bobbinlace.
