Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Sharon Y. McDonnell, 81, a resident of Davenport, will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2018 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will take place in Davenport Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport with a prayer service being offered at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Home, Davenport. Mrs. McDonnell passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Davenport.

Sharon Small was born on November 5, 1936 in Moline, a daughter of Richard E. and Helen A. (Swank) Small. She was united in marriage to Charles McDonnell on February 8, 1964 in Davenport. They later separated.

Sharon was a supervisor in the Security Assistance Management Office working for ACALA on the Rock Island Arsenal. She retired in March of 1996 after 40 years and 9 months of service.

Sharon enjoyed reading, traveling, and listening to music, especially musical and Broadway productions. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory, Women of the Moose, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

She is survived by her sons: Michael McDonnell, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Steven (Marcie Blanco) McDonnell, Hoboken, New Jersey, and a grandson, Luke McDonnell, Pittsburgh.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Barbara Hanley, and her parents. May they rest in peace.
