Robert E. "Bob" Pickett, 79, of North Talley Road, died at 4 a.m. February 19, 2018, at his home.

Bob was born July 24, 1938, in Shelbyville, the son of Londa L. and Irene E. Kelley Pickett. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1957 – 1963 and he married Dorothy Davis August 12, 1961.

He retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1994 after 30 years of service. After retirement they moved to Oklahoma where he attended Rhema Bible Training Center to become a minister. Upon graduation they returned to Columbus where Bob served as an associate pastor for six years.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2018, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Curtis officiating. Calling will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorials donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; son, Timothy (Robin) Pickett of Seymour; daughter, Tammy (Robert) Soller of Indianapolis; and grandchildren, Nathan Soller, Kaleb (Jean) Soller, Joshua Soller, Lauren Soller, Kaitlin Pickett and Ashley Pickett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brian Thomas Pickett, in 1977; brothers, James E., John Frederick "Fred", Norman, and Charles E. Pickett; and a sister, Wilma Jean Pickett.
