Deceased Name: Ivan Edward Whitby "Beloved Ike"
Ivan Edward Whitby succumbed to a valiant battle with Parkinson's Disease October 23, 2003.
He was born Dec 15, 1912 to Thomas Alvin and Alice Cordelia Moyle Whitby in Alpine, UT.
He grew up loving hunting and camping in the beautiful mountains surrounding Alpine.
He attended elementary school in Alpine and on to high school in American Fork. When he graduated America was in the depths of a depression. He and some of friends decided to go to Westwood, CA in search of employment. We understand they endured hard times with only food from the "Soup Lines." He eventually got a job in the lumber business with Kimberly Clark. He retired from there, 1963.
Ivan led a full life and was loved by all who knew him.
He married Ruby Elizabeth Klein Sept 3, 1938. She preceded him in death.
On July 18, 1959 he married Dorothy Vermillion. She has been a dedicated caregiver to Ivan during his extended illness.
Ivan was an active member of the LDS Church in Anderson, CA. He was endowed in the Oakland Temple Aug 7, 1971.
We will miss our caring brother and devoted husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Thomas Ivan (Susie) Whitby; grandchildren, Jill, Jason (Jody) Whitby, all of California; sisters, Evelyn (Bob, deceased) Jensen, May (Robert) Morgan, Salt Lake City; and brothers, Ray (Dee), Phoenix, AZ, Dr. George L. Whitby (June, deceased), Payson, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stephen, Roy, Glen; and sisters, Helen, Alice, Beth, and Emma.
Graveside services 11 a.m. Wed. Oct 29, Alpine City Cemetery. Burial to follow.
