Kevin "Cowboy" Roberts was born on April 7th, 1973, in Channelview, TX, the son of David and Deanne (Warren) Roberts. He grew up with a brother, Shannan and a sister, Shauna. Since he was a young man, Kevin always wanted to grow into being a cowboy and a bullrider. At the age of about 13, he had decided he didn't need God in his life, and was happy to go his own way. He would become the bull rider he always wanted to be, but only for a short time. On February 18th, 1995, Kevin participated in "Super Bull", a rodeo event held in Ardmore, OK. He endured a life threatening injury while riding a bull. After being tossed around the arena, Kevin was left with several broken vertebra and a broken neck. It was at this time that Kevin asked God for the strength to endure the trials and the pain to come. Following his surgeries, he developed infections and complications. Through it all, Kevin came to see the miraculous healing of the Lord for his body, mind and spirit. Life was not easy, but the Lord never intended Kevin to fight the battles alone. In 2005, the love of his life and his childhood sweetheart, Candi Boyd, moved back to the area. Their love had stood the test of time and the Lord had brought them back together. They were united in holy matrimony on April 23rd, 2005 in Gentry, AR. Together they raised a son, Blake Dwain and a daughter, Tiffany Kay. For twelve years, they shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ to cowboys and bull riders and anyone else who needed to hear the story of unshakable faith and constant friendship with God. In spite of all the difficulties, all the pain and suffering, Kevin's love of the Lord, his faith in his family and the patience he obtained from God's daily grace, Kevin and his family persevered. They enjoyed the blessings of each new day and never took for granted the love they found. The Lord called his good and faithful servant and cowboy home for the last roundup, forever known as the day he walked, on February 23rd, 2018 at his home, surrounded by the love of God and the family he adored. He was 44 years old. He leaves a void that can never be filled, but we know with sure and certain hope, that we will see him tall in the saddle again. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Reverend Robert Roberts, Arch Warren, grandmother Betty Warren, and father-in-law, Bill Boyd. Those left to cherish the memory of this remarkable man include his loving wife, Candi Boyd-Roberts of the home, and his children, Blake Dwain Roberts of Arlington, WA, and Tiffany Kay Roberts-Taylor and husband Casey Gene Taylor of Tahlequah, OK. He leaves his devoted parents, Pastor David Roberts and his mother, Deanne Warren-Roberts. He is survived by his brother, Shannan David Roberts and wife Amanda of Mulvane, KS and his sister, Shauna Dawn Williams and husband Chris of Arlington, WA. There are two nephews, Trenton Roberts and Cole Williams and an adored grandchild, Reese Dwain Taylor. He also leaves his faithful canine companion, Maggie Sue, as well as a host of friends and admirers, who have come to know the Lord by this cowboy's testimony.
