Mary Helen McNabb, 95, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Lexington Park Assisted Living in Topeka, Kansas, surrounded by family and friends. Helen was born on October 16, 1922 in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of Alexander and Anna Melnic Davidowski. Helen married Leslie Dwane Turner in Syracuse, New York in 1942 while Dwane was serving in the U.S. Army. They had one daughter, Maureen Turner Elder. Dwane passed away in 1969. Helen married Lorn McNabb in Topeka in 1971 and they spent the remainder of their lives together there. Helen is survived by her daughter, Maureen (Glen) Elder of Joshua, Texas; two grandsons, Shawn (Shannon) Elder of Ft. Worth, Texas and David (Cindy) Elder of Burleson, Texas; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and good friend, Lorena Carlat of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Lorn McNabb; her mother and father; sisters and brothers of Syracuse, New York; and brothers and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Loraine McNabb and Dale Carlat. We send our Heartfelt Thanks to the wonderful caregivers of Lexington Park Assisted Living and Great Lakes Caring Hospice. Funeral services for Helen will be at 1:30 pm on Monday, February 26 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Pastor Caren Loper will officiate. A private burial will follow at the Melvern Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Melvern Community Center or the Lyndon United Methodist Church, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS. 66451.
