Son of T J McGuire and Mary Gray, per his death certificate. The informant was his brother, Edward James McGuire. He was divorced and His usual residence was in San Antonio with his brother Edward.

At the time of his death from accidentally drowning in Buffalo Bayou, he had only been in Houston for two weeks.

He was a pharmacist and a US Army veteran of World War I, Pvt 1 Class, Quartermaster Corps, serving overseas September 23, 1918 - July 13, 1919. He enlisted at Ft Brown, Texas on April 12, 1918. He lived with his father Thomas J McGuire and stepmother Eva in San Juan, Hidalgo County, Texas, at that time.

He was listed in the 1940 census of Pct 13, Washington, D. C. with wife Ruby P. McGuire, born 1903 in Maryland and sons Terrance, age 7 and Patrick, age 4, and stepson, Walter Pratt, age 11, all born in Maryland. He was a pharmacist at Peoples Drug Store, Inc.

A note by the registrar on his WWII draft registration in Washington, D. C. says, "3 discharges from Army show date of birth as January 10, 1897. Registrant now understands he was born Feb. 10, 1897". His death certificate and SSDI show his date of birth as February 9, 1897. His sister Agnes McGuire was born on January 10 according to her death certificate.

His unmarked grave is located next to the marker of Vivian Hendrix, who is buried in Space 76.
