Donald E. Bauder
CANASTOTA Donald E. Bauder, 80, of Canastota, went to be with the Lord after passing away peacefully in his sleep, at his home on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018. He was born on July 29, 1937, in Theresa, N.Y., the son of Gerald M. and Doris (Roberts) Bauder.Don was an amiable soul who made friends easily and cared deeply for his family and his community. He served as an Air Force jet mechanic during the Korean War and was a member of the Manlius Fire Department from 1976 to 1983.He worked for many years as a skilled heavy equipment and crane operator for Local 545 out of Syracuse. In his retirement he enjoyed driving the local Amish and felt blessed to be surrounded by their love. He was well known for his incredibly mechanical mind and his ability to fix absolutely anything.Surviving are: Donna (Pete) Komrowski of Liverpool, Doug (Melanie) Bauder of Manlius, David (Chris) Bauder of Chittenango and Deborah Bauder of Cazenovia; Diane Bauder of Cazenovia; Robert Bauder of Watertown; his grandchildren, Michael and Stefan Komrowski and Olivia and Matthew Bauder; and a large extended family.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at 1 p.m. at New Beginnings Community Church, 227 Genesee St., Wampsville, N.Y. 13163. Pastor Randolph Phillips will officiate. There will be no calling hours. In his memory in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the ASPCA, 5878 E. Molloy Road, Syracuse, N.Y. 13211 and Wanderers' Rest Humane Association, Inc., P.O. Box 535, Canastota, N.Y. 13032, where he found his beloved dog, Grizzly. J. HOMER BALL FUNERAL HOME, INC.
