Born January 2, 1929 to James Howard and Edna (Morgan) Hudgens in Altus, OK, Jim was the eldest of three children. He played football for the Columbia Rough Necks in high school and after attending the University of Texas at Austin, married Patsy Joy Garrison on January 25, 1952. Jim served in the U.S. Army and gained the rank of Sergeant during the Korean War. He began a 40-year career with Equifax (formerly Retail Credit Co.) and acquired his law degree from the South Texas School of Law in Houston, all while fathering three daughters and a son—Jamie Renee, Pamela Roxanne, Patti Lynn and Michael Duane. Jim retired from Equifax as vice president of marketing in the 1980’s.
