Marjorie Kuehner, 95, died peacefully February 17, 2018 at Zarrow Pointe in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Marjorie is survived by four of her five children, Warren (Betty) Kuehner, Denver, CO, John (Rickie) Kuehner, Edmond, OK, W. Thomas (Gail) Kuehner, Lago Vista, TX and Marcia Kuehner Wilbanks, Tulsa, OK; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene J. Kuehner, May, 1976; her son-in-law, Chuck Wilbanks, January, 1994; and her son, Robert Kuehner, Austin, TX, August, 2017.
Born August 31, 1922 in McAlester, OK to Warren C. and Winnie V. Burleson Templeton, Marjorie attended McAlester public schools, graduating from McAlester High School in 1940. Following high school graduation she moved to Washington, DC where she lived while employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Her future husband, Gene, serving in the US Army Air Corps was stationed in California and Nevada and in November, 1942, she joined him in Santa Anna, CA, where they were married.
Returning to McAlester in 1944, Marjorie and Gene raised their five children while maintaining an active life in the community. Marjorie was very proud of the fact that four of her children, two of her daughters-in-law and several of her grandchildren graduated from OU.
Marjorie's career life began with employment at St Mary's Hospital in McAlester. In 1960 she joined Public Service Company of Oklahoma where she advanced to level of Executive Secretary, working in this capacity both in McAlester and Tulsa until her retirement in 1985.
Marjorie's move to Tulsa in 1979, after Gene's death, opened up a new world for her of travel, opportunities and friends. Marjorie loved to sing and act and was a natural performer, participating in several productions of the Tulsa Spotlight Theater. She had a flair for fashion and was always a gracious conversationalist. Marjorie will be remembered by her family and friends for her sunny disposition, outgoing personality, and willingness to burst into song.
She was an active member of many civic organizations including the Business and Professional Women (BPW), Oklahoma Women in Energy, and PEO, Chapter DH. She served as president of many of these organizations and was named "Woman of the Year" by the Tulsa BPW in 1983.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. A graveside memorial and celebration of Marjorie's life will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in McAlester, OK on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 2 PM.
