Joyce Marie (Thomas) French was born June 22, 1944 in Illinois City, Illinois, to Ellis Thomas and Helen (O'Haver) Thomas. Joyce entered into peaceful rest on February 21, 2018 at The Bedford Nursing and Rehab Center in Bedford, Iowa.
Joyce grew up in the Blockton area and attended school there. In 1960 Joyce was united in marriage to Roy Eugene French. To this union they were blessed with three children, Lori, Karen and Kenny.
Joyce became an LPN and worked a number of years at the Bedford Nursing and Rehab Center. Joyce also sold AVON products through the years. Following that she and Roy managed the Bristol Manor in Maryville, Missouri for 17 years until their retirement.
Joyce enjoyed many hobbies including, cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs, reading, harassing her grandkids about why they didn't root for the Chiefs, having coffee with the gang on Main Street, watching "Wheel of Fortune" every night at 6:30 and loving her children and grandchildren everyway possible. Joyce also had a "sweet tooth." Her favorite treat to satisfy this was a Strawberry Shortcake from the Junction Cafe. Joyce was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and nurse to all that knew her.
Left to cherish Joyce's memory are two daughters and one son; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister.
Preceding her in death are her parents, grandson Grant Ellis French and close family friend Ron Sales "Pickle."
