Obituary from Florence Times, Oct. 6, 1918:
Gone Forever
On June 11, 1918 after a long and painful illness of dropsey, the gentle spirit of Mr. Robert Burcham quietly passed away from this dark and dreary world into the scenes of eternal glory and happiness. His age was somewhere in the 70's. He leaves behind several children and many other friends and relatives to mourn his departure. His wife preceded him to the grave some 15 (13) years ago. It was hard indeed to give up Uncle Robert. We'll miss his cheer and comfort in the house. His face is gone that we loved to see, his voice we loved to hear. But he's forever gone, gone to his home beyond the rolling sea, where sin nor death can harm his soul nevermore, but where he is with Jesus, his saviour, and where joy and peace knows no bounds. We know that Uncle Robert cannot come back to earth to be with us any more, but if we live a true Christian life until God calls us, He will plant our feet safely on the beautiful plains of the sweet bye and bye with our friends. Where sad parting comes no more. To die is landing on some silent shore, Where billows never break, nor tempests roar. Written by his niece, Lavonion Y.

Civil War records for Robert Burcham have him enlisting in Burnsville, MO when in fact he enlisted at Burnsville, MS. This my explain why his confederate monument has him in the 25 MO Infantry when he was in the 25 MS Infantry.

Robert Burcham was the 4th child of Henry and Nancy Searcy Burcham of Old Tishomingo County, Mississippi. Robert and his brother, Levi Jackson Burcham moved to Colbert County, Alabama to raise their families.

Old Tishomingo County Mississippi marriage records shows Robert Burcham and Evey N. Groves married 1/23/1866 with M.M. Smith, Justice of the Peace and Sureties: Robert Burcham and H.C. Abernathy. Eva Nora Graves Burcham died after the 1900 Census where she stated 5 of her 9 children were living. Three that are known to have died between 1870 and 1900 are Robert Levi, born 8/15/1871, Mikel Cysroe, born 1/26/1876 and Charles Ellis, born 4/18/1877.
