Bettie Williams, 85, of North Aurora, and formerly of Batavia, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Bettie was born December 1, 1932, in Vicksburg, MS, the daughter of Theodore Roosevelt and Mary Elizabeth (nee Bohannon) Brown. She was united in marriage to Jimmie Williams July 12, 1950, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Bettie leaves to mourn her daughters; Katherine Williams, Brenda (Aaron) Benard, Daisy Shelton, and Bettie (James) Malone; four sons, Michael (Susan) Brown, Jimmie (Kathleen) Williams, Brian Williams, and Anthony (Pamela) Williams; a special daughter Tessa (Stanley) Gomes; 42 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; two sisters Ann Wesby and Evelyn Chatman; one sister-in-law Joan Griggs; and a host of nieces and nephews and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jimmie; two daughters Mary Kirkwood and Carol Austin; a brother-in-law, Willis Griggs; and a son-in-law, William Shelton. Visitation will be held Friday, 5-8 P.M., February 23, 2018, at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave., Batavia, IL. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Logan Street Baptist Church, 908 North River Street, Batavia, IL. She will lie state at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Committal services will follow in East Batavia Cemetery. The Family would like to express a special thank you to Northwestern Hospice and Delnor Hospital and to everyone for their kindness and deeds they have expressed to the Williams Family.
