Funeral services for Mrs. John Bray who died at her home in Bazaar Wednesday, February 16 were held in the Brown Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls, Saturday afternoon, February 19, 1949 at 2 o'clock, Rev. Robert Anderson officiating. Elmore Stout sang accompanied by Mrs. Lawrence Rogler. The casket bearers were Frank Gaddie, George McClellan, Gilbert Pinkston, Roy Norton, Roy Burton and Roy Beedle. Interment was made in the Bazaar Cemetery.

Nancy Jane Headley was born near Chalmers, Indiana, on October 6, 1866, and passed away at her home in Bazaar, Kansas, February 16, 1949 at the age of 83 years, four months and 16 days. She was the daughter of Zephaniah and Elizabeth Headley. On November 11, 1883, she was united in marriage to John Harris Bray, also of Chalmers, who preceded her in death on June 25, 1930. To this union were born six children, three of whom are left to mourn her passing. They are one daughter, Mrs. Blanche Martin of Mt. Hope, Kansas; Francis Bray of Cottonwood Falls; and Earl Bray of Yates center,; also 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She has been a resident in or near Bazaar for the past 55 years. She joined the Baptist Church while still a young woman. With the passing of Mrs. Bray the Bazaar community has lost a good neighbor and friend and she will be missed by everyone who knew her.
