Kentucky New Era engagement announcement posted 18 Apr 2009 reads as follows:

Bessie Ladd, Hopkinsville, announces the engagement of her daughter, Jennifer Kay Ladd Blackman, to the Rev. James Cliffton Matlock, son of Dorothy Gene Matlock, Indianapolis, Ind., and the late Roy Lee Matlock.

The bride-elect is also the daughter of the late Rev. Ernest T. Ladd. She attended Hopkinsville High School and Hopkinsville Community College. She is the pianist at the Blooming Grove Baptist Church.

Her fiancé is a 1979 graduate of John Marshall High School, Indianapolis, where he was the Golden Glove champion. He is the associate minister of the Blooming Grove Baptist Church and is employed by Ebonite.

The wedding is scheduled for Sept. 19, 2009, at the Blooming Grove Baptist Church. Invitations are being sent to out-of-town guests only.

Services for Jennifer Kay Blackman Matlock, 47, Greenville Road, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Saint John’s Baptist Church with the Rev. N.A. Kirby officiating.

Burial will be in Rocky Ridge Cemetery in Trigg County.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at Adams and Sons Mortuary.

She died at 10:56 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.

A native of Cadiz, she was born Sept. 18, 1963, the daughter of Bessie Mae Radford Ladd, Hopkinsville, and the late Ernest T. Ladd.

She was a homemaker and a member of Blooming Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she was the pianist and sang in the choir and was director of the Outreach for Christ Choir. She was also the pianist for the Foston Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. James Clifton Matlock; two sons, Lloyd A. Blackman Jr., Central City, Bryan C. Blackman, Evansville, Ind.; two sisters, Victoria S.D. Blackman and Christine J. Matlock, both of Hopkinsville; six brothers, Michael W. and Stacy F. Ladd, both of Louisville, Jabir Al Bari and Ernest D. Ladd, both of Hampton, Va., Jason L. Ladd, Hopkinsville, Robert Ladd, Palm Bay, Fla., and four grandchildren.
