Obituary for Ellsworth "Ted" Tangen
Ellsworth “Ted” C. Tangen, 91, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018, surrounded by his wife, family, and the wonderful staff at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls.

He was born on November 20, 1926, on the family farm in Kensington, MN, to Oscar and Mabel (Thompson) Tangen. Ted graduated from Kensington High School in 1944, and joined the United States Army, serving in Japan during WWII.

On August 23, 1948, Ted married Dollie Boll in South Dakota.

For a number of years, Ted owned and operated an egg route around Fergus Falls. In 1969, the family moved to Minneapolis where Ted worked for many years in the parts department for RCA-Whirlpool. He retired in 1993, and moved back to Fergus Falls.

He was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, where he was an elder for many years.

Ted loved to buy and sell cars, and work around the yard. For many years, Ted and Dollie wintered in Mission, TX, Canyon Lake Park, and spent their summer weekends at East Lost Lake with family and friends. He enjoyed boating and waterskiing into his 80’s!

Preceding him in death were his parents, Oscar and Mabel; and 4 brothers, Ralph, Richard, Gerhart, and Lou.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Dollie Tangen of Fergus Falls; daughter, Teri (Ron) Spangler of Fergus Falls; son, Robert (Isla) Tangen of Rogers; grandchildren, Ron (Lisa) Spangler of Fergus Falls, Tricia (Dan) Bergeson of St. Peter, Nick (Anna) Tangen of St. Michael, Ben (Liz) Tangen of St. Michael, Joe (Amber) Tangen of Zimmerman; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Tenner Tangen of Rogers; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials are preferred to Faith Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 1 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2018, at Faith Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls

Clergy: Reverend Craig Palach

Interment: Trinity – Faith Cemetery, Fergus Falls, MN
