Visitation with the family will be 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at O’Leary Funeral Services in Norwalk, burial will be in the Norwalk Cemetery.
Hank's Life Story
Henry “Hank” Berry, the son of William J. and Leatha M. (Coon) Berry was born on November 30, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1956.
Following school he drove a milk truck and then worked at Honeger Feed. He worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation March 1, 1966, retiring March 27, 1997. During this time he worked as a Concrete Lab Inspector.
Hank was a volunteer Fire and Rescue with the Norwalk Fire Department for many years. He was a 50 year member of the Norwalk Chapter of the Masonic Lodge. Hank was a Scout Leader with the local Norwalk Cub and Boy Scout Troops.
Hank married his high school sweetheart June Terry on June 1, 1957 at the Norwalk Methodist Church. To this union they had six children, Shelia, Jeff, Karolyn, Danny, Tim, and Jay.
Together they made their home in Norwalk. After retirement they enjoyed 17 years for traveling to Arizona during the Winter.
Hank is survived by his wife, June of Norwalk; his children, Shelia (Doug) Clement of New Virginia, Jeff (Janet) of Martensdale, Danny (Alicia) of Norwalk, Tim (Mona) of New Virginia, and Jay (Bernie) of Norwalk; a son-in-law, Mike Pagel of Waukee; his brothers, Donald (Isabel), Richard “Pete” (Kay), Cecil; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karolyn Pagel; two sisters, Audrey and Doris; and a sister-in-law, Margaret.
