Wanda P Fisher, aged 90, whose zest for life was an inspiration to all, died peacefully on April 18, 2017 at Community Hospice in Ft. Worth, Texas. Wanda was born February 21, 1927 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Henry T. Britten and Wilma O. (Short) Britten. Wanda attended high school in Ann Arbor, MI. After graduation, she accepted a secretarial position with the Navy Department and moved to Washington, DC during WWII. In 1950 Wanda became a stewardess for American Airlines and was assigned to fly from Chicago to Dallas. As was the custom of American in the early days, Wanda cut her career short upon her marriage to Hal W. Fisher of Howell, MI in 1952. Wanda resided in Brighton, Michigan for many years , raising daughter Bari and working for Brighton Area Schools, until she lost her husband, Hal ,after 34 years of marriage in 1986. Always looking for adventure, Wanda moved to Anna Maria Island, Florida in 1988 to live on the beach. She took up golf, adopted, Chuck, her long time furry companion, and sang in the choir at Roser Memorial church. After 8 years of enjoying the island life, Wanda moved to the golfing community of The Villages, Fl. While living here until 2013, she enjoyed golfing, going to movies, and game night with her wonderful group of friends. Recent health issues brought Wanda back to Texas to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Wanda was especially proud of her many friends in both Anna Maria Island and The Villages. She was able to travel recently to visit and enjoyed frequent calls and cards from everyone. Wanda is survived by her daughter Bari, son in law Bill, grandson Kevin and wife Jendi, along with great grandson Carson. There will be a private graveside service for family at a future date at Lakeview Cemetery, Howell, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Community Hospice of Texas, Hospice House Downtown Ft. Worth, where they took such loving care of Wanda and her family. The link is chot.org
