WILLIAM MARTIN ABER, a good man went home to see his father and mother, James and Dorthy; his brothers, Bert and Joe; sister, Francis on Aug. 27. He leaves behind his wife, Margaret; children, Barbara, Debbie, Alisa, Bill and his wife Laura. Grandchildren, Forreste and her husband Scott, James and his wife Linda, Travis, Jonathan and James. Great Grandchildren, Jordan, Brandan, and Max, and sister-in-law, Nita, to remember him . He was born in Philadelphia, PA on Aug. 4, 1918, but became a Texas at an early age when his family moved to Houston. He met Margaret, the light of his life and they were married on July 21, 1941. He built ships for the navy at the Todd Shipyard during W.W. II. After the war he formed The Aber Petroleum Co. and started drilling oil wells. He learned his trade through his hands on approach and became a well respected and successful independent oil operator. He later formed Wilmar Oil Inc. and continued exploring for oil and gas until his so-called retirement in 1990. The truth is he never really retired. It was too much in his blood. When he closed his eyes for the last time, he was probably planning his next oil deal. A Memorial Service conducted by Rabbi Walter of Congregation Emanu El will be held Sunday August 31, 2003 at 11am in the Emanu El Cemetery Chapel at 8341 Bissonnet in his honor. Final arrangements by Matthew Funeral Home, 519 E. Emily, Wharton, TX 77488, 979-532-2715.
