KING - Charles Edward Aldridge, 88, died Monday, September 11, 2017. He was born June 22, 1929 in Forsyth County to Charlie and Irene Harris Aldridge. Charles joined the USMC at the age of 19 where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. He served in Korea and was a two-time recipient of the Purple Heart. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Ina Merritt Aldridge. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Steven Aldridge. Surviving are two children, Tony Aldridge of Lexington and Patricia (Everett) Giles of Merritt Island, FL; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Aldridge Alspaugh of Winston-Salem and Donna Kay Aldridge of Stoneville; two brothers, Robert (Marie) Aldridge and Sammy (Dale) Aldridge of Stoneville. Graveside services with military rites will be held 11am, Friday, September 15th at Jefferson Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm, Thursday, September 14th at Slate Funeral Home in King. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
