Carol Rose Stevens
(November 15, 1931-February 21, 2018)

Carol Rose Stevens, 86, of Solway, MN passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Goldpine Home in Bemidji. She was born, the oldest of nine siblings, on November 15, 1931, on her mother's birthday, in Bemidji, MN, the daughter of Carl and Viola (Fink) Burgoon. She attended Meadowview grade school, Solway Elementary, and graduated from Bemidji High School on June 3, 1949.

She married her childhood friend, Kenneth Stevens, seven days after graduation. They moved within one mile of where they grew up, farmed, and raised five children. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School, Pioneer Girls, and being a 4-H leader for the next 30 years. She had multiple talents which included gardening, canning, baking cakes of all sizes for all occasions, sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, ceramics, and most any craft one might imagine. She worked as a baker for the Highway Host for 25 years. She spent her later years volunteering at the Bemidji Senior Center. Her last six months were spent at the Goldpine Home in Bemidji.

Carol vividly remembered accepting Christ as her Savior on April 25, 1943. She never waivered from her faith. She said to tell you her residency is in Heaven now. She was a lifelong follower of Rev. Billy Graham. They entered Heaven together that day.

She is survived by her: twin daughters, Kathleen Paulson, and Kathryn (Les) Sanders; sons, Kenneth R. (Cindy) Stevens, Lonnie Stevens, and Todd (June) Stevens; siblings, Roger (Frannie) Burgoon, Patricia Schussman, Ann (Dave) Baker, Larry (Marlys) Burgoon, and Linda Tronnes; 9 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, her parents, sisters Icele Stai, Dixie Vollen, brother Dan Burgoon, 2 brother-in-laws, and 3 son-in-laws.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Solway Bible Chapel in Solway, MN with Pastor Keith Willard officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Interment will be at the Meadowview Cemetery in Solway, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Brad Paulson, Lucas Hagen, Patrick Tobin, Tony Micheli, Drew Stevens, and her nephew Scott Burgoon. Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters Sarah Paulson, Jessica Tobin, Erica Stevens, Heather Micheli, Jami Egeland, and grandson Jeff Bahls.
