William A. Bowen, 60, a security guard at the Du Pont Co. Experimental Station, died Wednesday after being stricken while bowling.
Mr. Bowen, of 2009 Tatnall St., was pronounced dead at General Division. He had been employed at Du Pont for 18 years.
Mr. Bowen was born in Cheswold and had lived in Wilmington 52 years.
He was a member of Corinthian Lodge 20, AF&AM, was a charter member of the Nur Temple, a member of the Delaware Consistory and the American Trap Shooting Association. Mrs. Bowen served with the Marines in Guam in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel R. Bowen; a son, William J. of Claymont; a daughter, Mrs. Sandra Lee Swink of Atwater, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Ida Mae Bowen of Wilmington; and two sisters, Miss Amanda T. Bowen of Wilmington and Mrs. Maxine McLane of Middletown.
Services will be tomorrow morning at 11 at Jones Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. The family asks that flowers be omitted.
