Joyce was born March 16, 1930 in Kings Mill, Texas to Raymon and Earlyne Childers. She grew up in several towns in Texas and Louisiana before settling in Hereford where she graduated from high school and had her first 3 children. After a few years in Deming, NM, she and the children moved to Coleman, TX to live near her parents. In 1962 she married Tommy Kelley, her husband of 49 years, and had her son Steven in 1967. She was a professional seamstress, and also worked in banking and insurance. Her hobbies progressed from dresses and costumes for grandchildren to needlepoint and blue-ribbon quilting.
Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed teaching the girls how to sew, attending the boy’s athletic games, and traveling with her husband. She also enjoyed singing in the church and quilting with the quilters guild. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents Raymon and Earlyne Childers, brother Raymon Childers Jr. (Sonny), and her husband Tommy Kelley.
She is survived by her sister Pat Stumbo;children, Lars Kristiansen, David Barclay and wife Victoria, Patty Stepp and husband Danny, Steven Kelley and wife LaJuan; grandchildren, Cami Wilson, Jennifer Bost, and Beau Barclay; great grandchildren, Parker, Jared, Luke, Brayden and Cooper Wilson, Lockin Stevenson, Tyler Tierce, Landon Sykora, Blakely Bost, and Tristan Barclay.
