Mr. Kelly, a Norfolk native, had retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 35 years. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was a co-founder of National Railway Historical Society and a volunteer with the Virginia Opera Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Levy Kelly; a daughter, Kathleen K. Kirsch of Chesapeake; three sons, Brian T. Kelly, Charles M. Kelly and Allen E. Kelly, all of Norfolk; two sisters, Mary E. Vahey of Virginia Beach and Rosemarie Gilliam of Hanover, Va.; three brothers, James S. Kelly and Peter A. Kelly, both of Virginia Beach, and Frank M. Kelly of Florida; and two grandchildren.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Christ the King Church by the Rev. Joseph P. Lehman. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. A Christian wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. today in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, where visitation will follow.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
