Francis Jerrold "Jerry" McKean Sr. age 84, A native of Mobile died peacefully on February 20, 2018. Born on November 23,1933 he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Patricia "Patti" Reilly McKean, one son Patrick Louis McKean, parents Mr. and Mrs. Louis Leonard (Margaret) McKean, Sr. and a brother Louis Leonard McKean, Jr. He is survived by children Kathy (Wade) Atwell, Jerry (Karen) McKean, Jr., Mary (Rick) Atwell and David W. McKean, 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends Mr. Ray Green, Mr. Billy Danforth and Mr. Eddie Humphries. McKean graduated from Murphy High School where he excelled in both basketball and football. He attended Auburn University where he played basketball. He pitched for 23 years in various city fast-pitch softball leagues and is an inductee in the Alabama Softball Hall of Fame. Jerry worked hard in the contracting business in Mobile for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting and had a passion for inshore fishing especially at Cedar Point Pier. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Dominic Catholic Church at 11:00a.m. Friday, February 23, 2018. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass beginning at 9:30a.m. with burial to follow at the Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children.
