Major Glen Fairchild of Springfield, MO was reassigned on February 22, 2018

He was born in San Francisco, CA to Charles W. and Virginia Hill Fairchild on January 21, 1944. He was raised in Joplin, MO where he graduated from Joplin High School. He was drafted into the United States Army in November of 1966, graduated from the Officer Candidate School at Fort Sill, OK as an Artillery officer in October 1967 and served in Vietnam in 1968-1969, as a Forward Observer.
For his combat service he was awarded several medals for valor, including Two Bronze Star Medals (one with “V” device), the Air Medal with “V” device, and Army Commendation Medal with “V” device. He spent nearly twenty years in uniform doing the thing he loved the most, training Soldiers. He loved the game of golf and his golfing buddies. He dedicated his life to his family and to helping his brothers in arms get the care and benefits that they had earned during their military service.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lee Anne Sweezy, and brother Paul Fairchild.
He is survived by his daughter Tiffany Young and her husband Nathan, of Springdale, AR; and three sons, Jeff Fairchild and his wife Sara of Sherwood, AR; Matt Fairchild and his wife Gayla of Conway, AR; and Joseph Fairchild of Seattle, WA. He was also the proud Gramps to nine grandchildren, Blake Fairchild, Paige Fairchild, Paisley Fairchild, Presley Fairchild, Matti Fairchild, Grant Fairchild, Alli Young, Jack Young and Luke Young. He is also survived by his sister Dee Lynn Davey of Houston, TX, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friday, March 2, 2018 11:30AM - 1:30PM at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home.

Committal Service: Friday, March 2, 2018 2:00PM at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
