Gilbert E. Taylor, 92, died February 12 at Harbor Chase Assisted Living in Jacksonville, Florida. He spent his early years in Crisfield, and after the death of his mother, Ruth Taylor, he moved to Philadelphia. After his retirement he moved to Salisbury and later to Jacksonville.
He served in the Navy during World War II and in the Army during the Korean War and was severely wounded in combat. He belonged to the American Legion, the VFW, the DAV, and the Red Men.
He is survived by his two children, Gilbert E. Taylor Jr., and Anna Joyce Jones; his sister, Billie Rae Webb, and his brother, Ronnie Pruitt. He had six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Lee Keyser.
A military funeral and interment will be at the Jacksonville National Cemetery and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
