James C. Abraham peacefully passed away in his Phoenix home on June 25, 2015 at the age of 74. He was born to Michael and Sadie (John) Abraham in Geneva, New York on November 27, 1940. Most commonly known as "Abe", a nickname given to him in high school, moved from Geneva to Phoenix with his family as a teenager. He attended Sunnyslope High School where he met his future wife, Linda and was a member of the Zephyr car club. They have three children, all of whom also attended Sunnyslope. At 18 years old, Abe began what would become his life-long career at a Civil Engineering company in Phoenix. His first position was a field surveyor but as a result of his tenacious work ethic and "can do" attitude, he advanced quickly learning everything there was to know about the business, including client relations. For the last 25 years he has shared ownership of the same company. During his career of 56 years, he created solid, honest, lasting relationships with colleagues, clients, business associates and acted as a mentor to many. His interest in classic cars began as a teenager and developed into a passion during his later years. He was well known among other classic car owners and car show enthusiasts. Rarely did he miss the opportunity to be a part of this community by taking one or two of his three cars to shows during the last 18 years. Abe enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends, golfing and was an ardent ASU fan. He was a Sun Devil Football season ticket holder for over 40 years, often traveling to away games to show support and cheer for the Sun Devils. Abe's personality was quiet, unassuming and humble. He was undeniably dependable and selfless in all aspects of his life. He was a caring, loving husband, father, brother and friend. Abe not only just showed up, but showed up for others. He will be missed dearly but is in our hearts forever. Abe was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Sadie Abraham, brother Joseph Abraham and sister Rebecca Abraham. Abe is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda, 3 children; daughter Jayme Chapin (Dave), daughter Joey Morgan, and son Jason Abraham, granddaughter Casey Holland and 4 sisters; Marie Bourget, Joan Manning, Joyce Zehme and Rachelle Morse. The family would like to thank the staff of the Sherman Home for the warm, compassionate care that was given to Abe, his family, and the many visitors. It is truly appreciated. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 11:00 am, Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 8620 N. 7th St., Phoenix, AZ 85020. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley. Please visit www.hansenmortuary.com to place online condolences.
